Frequesntly Asked Questions....
How do I reserve my Maine Coon Kitten?
A $300 Non-Refundable holding fee will be required after the vetting process is complete. Deposit can be made by cash, check, creit card, Venmo, of Cash app.
How do I know if I/we have been chosen to select a kitten?
After proper vetting, kittens are offered to those individuals/families who can provide love and a safe forever home to a kitten. You will know within a couple days at most.
What is the vetting process?
Generally, the vetting process is a phone or video call interview.
How long will I wait for a kitten?
It will depend on what you are looking for. If you specifically want a certain gender, coat color, poly, etc. it could take 1 to 3 litters before getting your choice. However, I only take up to 6 deposits per litter/anticipated litter so that I avoid long waits for people. If you are open to different coat colors, gender, etc. you could reserve a specific kitten right away.
What is the cost of a Pacific Coonie Maine Coon kitten?
The adoption fee for a kitten will range between $2300 and $2800. See Pricing tab under Kitten's Available tab
Is this a high price?
Actually NO! if you do your research you will find that $2300 is the very low end of "average". Some breeders are asking $2500 to $4000 for kittens and they are carrying very long waitlists.
How do breeders determine prices?
We are responsible, home-based breeders and when determining the cost of a kitten, we must figure in the cost of acquiring parents with breeding rights which come from reputable lines and pedigrees. The comprehensive cost of a kitten may include, but is not limited to, regular vet checks, vaccinations, microchipping, blood tests, genetic testing, hip X-rays and echocardiograms (with a feline cardiologist) to determine parents to be negative for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Additional expenses include: proper housing, a raw food diet, toys, cat trees, litter, grooming supplies, cleaning equipment, etc. Kittens will be sold with a Purchase Contract/Agreement. Upon picking up your kitten we will formally sign the contract. From time to time, we will retire a program cat. We believe cats within our program deserve to spend the greater part of their life as the center of a family (usually between 3-5 y/o)..
When can I pick up my kitten?
Kittens are available to be picked up between 10 & 14 weeks of age - depending upon their weight, independence and eating. The remaining balance is due IN CASH on the day of pick up. When your kitten leaves, we will give you a contract, their vaccination record, pedigree, microchip information and take home gifts . Airport rendezvous's at the Portland (PDX) or Eugene, OR Airports will be considered on a case by case basis..
*Pacific Coonies' kittens are sold as PET ONLY. We do NOT normally sell kittens with breeding rights.
Do you offer a health guarantee?
We offer a 1-Year health guarantee as part of the sales contract. In order for the guarantee to remain intact, the kitten must be examined by your vet within 2 weeks of leaving our home. Our cats are tested for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and all kittens leaving our home will be negative. Keep in mind that after a vaccination for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV), a kitten will test positive for these due to the vaccination. All our breeding cats have been DNA tested for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKDef) through Wisdom Panel. Kings and Queens receive their heart echocardiograms (EKG) from a feline cardiologist to ensure they do not have HCM as well.
